Full description

Explore one of the largest lakes in the Azores on a 3-hour tour of the Lagoa do Fogo by 4WD vehicle. After hotel pickup, first, stop at Pico da Barrosa viewpoint and enjoy panoramic views of Lagoa do Fogo. Surrounded by native trees and beautiful flowers, the lake is best accessed and appreciated by off-road vehicles, getting you to more remote and picturesque areas. During the tour, you will stop at a variety of interesting locations en route, with highlights including the Calderas of Ribeira Grande. See the fumaroles, geysers and a wonderful waterfall of the warm, iron water. Finally, visit the city of Ribeira Grande and taste local liqueurs.

Joan and Rodrigo (sorry if I spelled it wrong) picked us up right in front of the ship, Joan spoke German very well! The 2 gave us a wonderful trip, we drove to places that were also off the tourist hotspots. We learned a lot about the Azores, history, country and people. We can definitely recommend the excursions with GYG and their local partners. Thanks for the nice time!

An excellent small group tour

Our tour guide Joao is very energetic and knowledgeable to give us detail and history of every place we are visit. We are visiting many places in a half day tour in a small van and we are able to reach places that a big tour bus cannot. I would strongly recommend this tour for others
