Full description
Join this tour to journey back in time to the height of the Roman empire! Explore the remains and ruins of this ancient city and let your guide or audioguide tell you all about how the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD destroyed the city, killed its inhabitants and buried it under tons of ash. Spend the afternoon exploring this once-thriving city that was frozen in time by these layers of volcanic ash. Pompeii remained buried under a layer of pumice stones and ash 19 - 23 feet (6 to 7 meters) deep. The city's sudden burial served to protect it for the next 17 centuries from vandalism, looting and the destructive effects of the climate and heavy weather. The site was lost for about 1,500 years until its rediscovery - the objects, buildings and people beneath the layers have been well-preserved for centuries. Take a walk along these ancient streets for a glimpse into the lives of the Romans. See its ancient houses, bakeries and shops and see what life was like in 79 AD on this unique historical excursion.

This was a good tour with a friendly tour guide. There were lots of ruins and plenty of time to look around and take pictures. We did not get as much back story on the history of Pompeii as I would have expected, but had lots of information about each room and ruin we walked through. We were an add-on for the Pompeii portion of a larger group that had come down from Rome, so we only participated in the Pompeii aspect of the tour.

The best guide we could have hoped for.

My husband and I are on honeymoon at Cava De Tirreni, traveling up the Amalfi Coast. I have alway wanted to go to Pompeii. We were recommended to do a tour with a guide. We were so lucky to get Connie as our guide. She was so passionate about Pompeii and the history. She was incredibly detailed and funny. Thus far, our tour of Pompeii has been the highlight of our trip.

It was so much fun with Connie! She is fantastic and very knowledgeable about the city of Pompei. She answered all our questions and included the whole group. It needed to be longer! There was so much that we didn’t get to see, but we were glad that we got to walk around afterwards.
