Podgorica: Kotor & Budva Old Towns Tour

1. Podgorica: Kotor & Budva Old Towns Tour

You will begin your tour at the agreed venue in Podgorica (or from other cities with changes in the itinerary). From there you will drive straight to Budva Old Town, a town with a history of several long centuries which peaked during the Venetians rule that lasted for nearly 400 years. The town is fortified by powerful Venetian walls and is today the most visited tourist destination on the Montenegrin coastline. With its 35-kilometer-long coastline strip, Budva offers something for everyone looking for a perfect spot to spend their summer vacation, including history, art, sandy beaches, nightclubs, shops, and gourmet restaurants. On your way to Budva, you will make a photo stop over one of its popular beaches. Budva Riviera is the center of Montenegrin tourism and the most beautiful part of the Montenegrin coast. From Budva, you will go towards the Medieval town of Kotor. Kotor Old Town is the only UNESCO-protected town in Montenegro. The town, built like a maze, will delight you with its streets and small squares and leave a unique image not only of this city but also of the state. Once you finish with Kotor, you will continue your adventure and head towards Njegusi Village. Here you will visit one of the home-owned restaurants where you can order some of the region’s best-known specialties: smoked prosciutto and cheese. Montenegro prides itself on the production of prosciutto, and it is just right that you try it at the best place possible: Njegusi Village. On the way to Njegusi Village, you will use the old road built at the end of the 19th century. This breathtaking road consists of 25 switchbacks and will offer you one of the most magnificent views Montenegro has to offer. From Njegusi village, you will head back to your starting position at Podgorica.

Montenegro: Nature, Locals & Wine Tour

2. Montenegro: Nature, Locals & Wine Tour

Join this tour to meet a local winemaker who is bound to leave a strong impression on you. Meeting the locals in Montenegro is that what makes this tour authentic. The tour officially begins with a panoramic ride through small villages to the almost forgotten town of Rijeka Crnojevica. From the town, there is a possibility to rent a 1-hour boat ride in the National Park Skadar Lake, on the river Crnojevica. After visiting a small historic town and getting to know the history of the country, go further towards one of the villages. All villages around the lake have a long tradition of winemaking. Visit a household offering some of the best wines in the region. Spend some time tasting different wines and spirits, and enjoy homemade snacks. Along the way down via Pavlova Strana, make a few photo stops over river Crnojevica and part of the Skadar lake.

Podgorica: Ostrog Monastery and Niagara Waterfall Tour

3. Podgorica: Ostrog Monastery and Niagara Waterfall Tour

You will begin your tour by visiting the most famous waterfalls near the capital, Niagara Waterfalls. On the way to the falls, you will be able to see the Cijevna River Canyon, which was formerly the border between Montenegro and the Ottoman Empire until 1912. The waterfall was named after the Niagara waterfalls in Canada. Being much smaller, the waterfall is a great attraction for "Podgorica", and a place to rest on hot summer days.  Sometimes during the summer, the waterfalls dry up, so you get the opportunity to visit Virpazar or the lookouts above the river Crnojević, both part of the Skadar Lake National Park. These options are always available at the client's request. Kayaking in Virpazar can also be organized for an extra fee. After visiting the waterfall, the road will lead you up to the Ostrog Monastery. The beauty of this monastery, made by St.Vasilije, was written by Napoleon’s colonel and French commander Viala de Somier, who visited the monastery in 1810. He wrote a book about Montenegro before published it in Paris 10 years later. Ostrog Monastery also has relics of a boy named Stanko from Podvraca Village, who was killed by the Turks in 1714. From the terraces of this monastery, there are beautiful views of the Bjelopavlic plain and the Zeta River. In the Upper Monastery, all believers are provided with a bottle of holy water and oil. The monastery complex consists of a church, a large conch, and a series of ground-level buildings that once served as classrooms. The whole complex is surrounded by a high stone fence. At the conclusion of your tour, you will be returned to your point of origin.

What people are saying about Podgorica

My guide today was Dimitrije, who picked me up on time and showed me the most beautiful vantage points between and above the canyons on the way to the national park, so that fabulous shots of the mountains and the crystal-clear rivers were created. A detour to a monastery on the way was also possible and in general Dimitrije was ready to implement all wishes. There was an optional stop for ziplining which I took advantage of. I definitely won't regret it. There are then opportunities to support local small breweries of schnapps by buying the goods on site. At the national park, which costs €3 entry, you can explore the forest and Black Lake on your own. Dimitrije came back after 2 hours and left together towards Podgorica. The guide is really passionate and motivated on the go. He does what he can to ensure that the experience remains unforgettable. And it will be unforgettable for me.

Had some ‘scheduling issues’ due to GetYourGuide but Dimitrije arrived on time and proceeded to do some excellent driving on the winding roads from Podgorica to Budva and Kotor. The day was chilled out & informative with orthodox churches, beaches & some beautiful vistas of Kotor. Stopped in Cetinje for a while, visited village in the mountains at Kotor, sampled some local cheese & Proscuitto. A bit more pricey than I would usually go for but was a good day out. Cheers Dimitrije

Fantastic walk and ostrog monastery is so beautiful. My guide had a huge amount of knowledge and happily shared it. All questions I had he could answer or quickly found out the answer. I asked my guide what else to see in Montenegro and he gave a great deal and drove me around to the most beautiful sights in Montenegro. Can highly recommend this trip to anyone

Slavko is the best guide <3 talk interesting things about Montenegro, is forgiving (unruly tourist;)), willing to change a schedule plan. We couldn't imagine a better trip :)

A great tour of the surrounding area that you have to take part in, with an excellent guide!
