Full description
Your tour starts with pickup from your hotel/accommodation in Sofia at 8:00AM. After an approximate 1.5-hour drive, you will reach Plovdiv. Once there you will visit the highlights, such as the 1st-century Roman Theatre, the 2nd-century Roman Stadium, the oldest mosque on the Balkans, and an old pharmacy. You will then have the chance to take a walk through the Old Town where you can observe the typical Revival Period houses, museums, and narrow cobblestone streets. Scheduled throughout your itinerary are visits to 5 sites, as well as the top of the main hill which provides great views over the whole city. After you finish your exploration of Plovdiv, you will drive south to the Rhodope Mountain. This road is very scenic, and you will soon reach Vucha Dam where you will be picked by a boat before being taken to a place where you can enjoy lunch. Whist at this scenic location, you can also enjoy a nice walk up to the cliffs, a boat trip on the reservoir, and take the opportunity to hire a waverunner. We were picked up at the hotel by a friendly guide. We were the only two who were going - although there are up to 8 people. We got a nice explanation about Sofia's development on the trip to Plovdiv. The drive lasted approx. 1.5 hours. In Plovdiv we were shown around and shown some of the numerous excavations in the city. Originally, we were also supposed to have seen a 3D film about the city's Roman past, but as there were technical problems, we unfortunately had to miss this one. after about 1.5 hours in Plovdiv we drove 1.5 hours towards Rhodope Mountain. Beautiful and not least fascinating to witness the drive up the beautiful mountain. On the way up we stopped at a local restaurant. Fantastic experience! We tried their fried fish (caught in the lakes by the mountain), bulgarak bread and Bulgarian salad with tomatoes grown in the mountains and goat cheese also made in the mountains. Extremely cheap prices with the most beautiful view over mountains and lakes. Later beautif

Wonderful tour! Plovdiv is a very beautiful city with a lot of history. Guide (Georgi) reported a lot of interesting facts in perfect English and answered all questions well. Two old merchants' houses were viewed from the inside - quite impressive. Roman buildings are still very impressive. In Plovdiv, a guide suggested a restaurant that was really good. After Plovdiv, after about an hour's drive to the Rhodope Mountain, there was still about an hour's boat tour before it went back to Sofia. Tour clearly recommended!

My friend and I went to Plovdiv and the Rhodope Mountains, it was stunning! Plovdiv is a very interesting city and the mountains are breathtaking. We were about an hour by boat on the lake, we ate at a stunning restaurant. The guide Daniel answered all the questions and was amazing. We enjoyed every moment!
