Full description

Step inside Florence's Pitti Palace and explore the Palatine Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art with your priority ticket. Marvel at historic collections, such as the Treasury of the Grand Dukes and the Medici Collection.

The original palazzo was built for the Pitti family in 1457, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. Today, the lavish Renaissance palace hosts an extraordinary collection of art.

Admire some of the incredible works amassed by the Medicis during their rule. See works from Raphael, Caravaggio, Titian, Pietro da Cortona and Rubens. From the windows, catch views of Brunelleschi’s Santo Spirito Basilica and the Boboli Gardens.

Explore some of the most important museums in Florence on your visit to the Pitti Palace. Visit the Palatine Gallery on the first floor and discover a broad collection of 16th and 17th-century paintings, and the Royal Apartments, containing furnishings from a remodeling done in the 19th century.

Then, head to the second floor to see the Gallery of Modern Art and admire the fine collection of paintings and sculptures, mostly Italian, dating from the late 18th century to World War I.

The elegant rooms, which were inhabited by the Lorraine grand dukes, are decorated with works of the neo-classical and romantic periods.

The line was LONG, so it was so amazing to skip the line and already have our audio guide paid for! Just don't forget to pick up your audio guide hardware at the front when you pick up your ticket (this was explained well in the instructions GYG gave me, but I completely forgot), and definitely DON'T accidentally wait in that line! Go up to the front on the right, just like the directions say, and there is a short/non-line there with an attendant who will guide you in front of the line as soon as a ticket window is available. Such a great way to skip the line on a hot day! And don't forget you can add on a Bobboli Gardens ticket and buy at the ticket counter when you're up there, so don't wait in line for that either if you wish to see those and forgot to purchase a ticket. The gardens were massive and worth seeing if it's not too hot! Recommend!

The reason is not the artifacts at the palace itself - it is important to book your tickets from the Pitti office directly only and not through some other agency as when we got there to exchange the tickets we found out that our ticket was Eur 8 more expensive and to make it more offensive this did not include the Bobboli Gardens!!! so we paid Eur 30 for each ticket whilst at the palace they cost was of Eur 22 each and including the gardens!!

Incredible place to visit. Exquisite paintings everywhere and great exhibition of Levy on a separate level. Audio was useful but initially difficult to navigate. If using this, look for the stands with information and the number in the middle. Ask staff if unsure, not all rooms have them. For an extra €6 it helped put the history into context and was very informative.
