Embark on an unforgettable guided day trip from Athens to Delphi, the navel of the ancient Greek world. Visit the Delphi Archeological Site and museum and see the Temple of Apollo, the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia, and more. Later, get free time to explore a scenic village. The morning of your trip, meet your licensed tour guide and depart in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. The drive takes about 2.5 hours going each way, so sit back and enjoy the passing scenery as you pass through the Boeotia plains. As you travel, begin to immerse yourself in Ancient Greece as your guide tells tales about ancient Greek mythology, King Oedipus, God Apollo, and more. Your first stop will be at Kryas Livadeia Springs, a picturesque valley near the city of Levadia. Streams, limestone formations, stone and wooden bridges, and walking routes along the banks create the perfect scenery for a photo walk. During a guided tour through the archaeological site, see some of the most important and unique archaeological monuments, such as the Temple of Apollo and its oracle, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall. Later, you can visit the Archaeological Museum of Delphi (entry fees paid on site), which hosts globally known pieces of art like the Sphinx of Naxos, the Statue of Antinous, the Siphnian Treasury, and the Charioteer of Delphi. After the visit to Delphi, hop back on the bus to the multicolored village of Arachova, built on the mountainside. Get free time to arrange for lunch on your own at a traditional taverna (costs not included). Take time to go on a stroll around the village’s narrow alleys, enter some artisanal shops for local delicacies, and admire the local hand-woven carpets. In the late afternoon, depart for your return to Athens, on another 2.5-hour drive.

4. From Athens: Delphi Guided Day Trip With Entry Tickets

Delphi lies 180 kilometers northwest of Athens, on the slopes of mountain Parnassus, close to Arachova, a beautiful mountainous town. The route to Delphi is amazing, full of sensational, natural landscapes and cute country villages. Delphi is a magical place where history meets with mythology. During antiquity (6th century B.C.), Delphi was the most significant point of reference for ancient Greeks, known throughout the ancient Greek world and beyond, as the sanctuary of Apollo, god of light and knowledge, and the shrine of his high priestess and seer, Pythia. Both kings and mortals consulted the notorious Pythia, about their future. She would even predict the outcomes of battles and wars. Isn’t it exciting? Common people would consult her as well if they could afford it. Nowadays, Delphi is one of the most famous archaeological sites in Greece. Since it is located on a mountain slope, divided into two levels by the main road, the views you will enjoy are out of this world. The site and the museum is a must-visit for people from all over the world who want to learn all about its remarkable history and also admire an awe-inspiring location of raw beauty. The Delphi museum is one of the most notable in Greece, hosting treasures of exquisite beauty and historical significance, such as the Sphinx of Naxos, the famous Charioteer of Delphi, the Kouros brothers, and many more. Dare to walk on Delphi’s sacred paths, under the strong Greek sun, and you might hear Apollo’s seer whispering her prophecies.

What people are saying about Phocis

In the past year I have been on excellent tours in Albania and Jordan. I keep waiting for a disappointing one but it hasn’t happened yet. Dionisis may be one of the most widely knowledgeable of all my guides so far. Extensive historical, architectural, and mythology stories intertwined to create a mesmerizing educational experience. The food at our lunch stop was sublime and the general conversation with Dionisis and driver, Kennedy, was both entertaining and erudite. True citizens of the world. Next time I come I will ask the company and Dionisis to put together a personal tour of the less visited places just for additional fun.

The tour is a must if you have a passion for the ancient ruins of Greece and Greek mythological myths. Visiting the site was magical with an incredible view of the valleys and mountains. We did the tour towards the end of June and it was very hot. So definitely bring sunscreen and water, however, despite the heat, it is still very worth the trip. Demitrius was a wonderful tour guide who made the trip to Delphi insightful, fun and engaging. Would highly recommend for someone who enjoys exploring.

Zita (guide) and Kennedy (driver) were wonderful during the trip - personable, knowledgeable, and just fun to be around. We learned so much on this excursion! Delphi and the gorgeous surrounding mountains were phenomenal and steeped in interesting history. Thanks for making the trip enjoyable for me and my daughter!

this tour was great the scenery seemed like it was something out of a movie and our guide Antony was the best he made sure we didn't want for anything. From food runs to bathroom breaks and even the perfect photo, Antony was right there making sure we got the best of our experience. I would definitely recommend

Anthony was an amazing driver/tour guide. He took us to so many places for pictures along with a great place to eat. Would definitely recommend!
