1. From Khao Lak: Ethical Elephant Sanctuary Tour in Phang Nga

Observe free-roaming elephants in a safe and ethical environment on a tour from Khao Lak that includes hotel transfers and Thai lunch. Enjoy the rural landscape of the Mueang Phang-nga district, meet your elephant and Kwan-chang (elephant handler), and get a chance to bathe and feed the giants. Start with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Khao Lak. Be driven for approximately 45 minutes through scenic agricultural lands, stopping on the way to visit Benyaran Museum to see a collection of local antiques. Upon arrival at the wildlife sanctuary, meet your guide and learn a little about the elephants as you take a walk through the forest. Get bananas and sugarcane to feed the majestic animals. You can touch, feed, photograph, and interact with them while learning about their lifestyle and behavior. Then, accompany the elephants to a nearby mud spa. Go knees-deep into the mud to apply a healthy cosmetic mud treatment to their skin. Next, walk with the elephants to a nearby river and join them in the water for a refreshing bath. Take a swim and help brush the elephants as they play in the river. Once the elephants are bathed, you can take some photos with them. Then, it is time to part ways with your friends. Take a shower, change into dry clothes and savor a freshly-cooked, traditional Thai lunch with some snacks and seasonal fresh fruits. You can also join a Thai cooking demonstration led by professional guides and see how Pad Thai, a signature stir-fry dish, and Som Tam (papaya salad) are prepared. End your day with a hotel drop-off in Khao Lak.

What people are saying about Phang Nga Elephant Park

An all-round successful trip, after a short visit to the museum, with collectibles of all kinds of life here, we were able to enjoy time with elephants in their natural habitat. After we were allowed to produce delicious vitamin bombs for the elephants. With them in the pouring rain - 6 of them, walking, feeding, bathing, mud skin care and showering. The guide is very attentive, he explains a lot and loves his job. The excursion in the four-hectare jungle was rounded off by a Thai buffet in the house. With a small cooking class for us. It is very nice that the elephants get so much naturalness and loving care every day. We were lucky enough to have a tour to ourselves. I would find the usual group size too much bustle. Definitely a recommendable excursion with great impressions.

place to ourselves.....loved the whole experience the elephants are amazing such amazing creatures and how anyone can hunt or hurt these animals is beyond me. They are beautiful..my wish is that all that elephant rides are banned and in these sanctuaries they are truly looked after. We cooked lunch after being with the elephants which was fun and the food they fave us was enough to feed an army. Overall I would recommend this trip just for the elephant experience only....to feed them and bath them truly was amazing!!

It was an unforgettable experience that we can only recommend to everyone. The trip was well planned from start to finish. At the end of the excursion, all the pictures were made available to us quickly and free of charge. The whole area is natural and we felt very comfortable with our supervisors. We were a very small group of only 4 people which made the experience even more amazing. We are very glad we chose this camp, it is worth the price. Absolutely recommendable.

We had an excellent day with the elephants. Very good knowledgeable staff, all very well organised and finished off with a delicious meal. If you want to get up close and personal with elephants, this is for you, but be prepared to get wet and muddy when you bath with them !!

Authentic expetience. Touching these great animals, feeding and washing them is absolutely a unique adventure. Knowing that all elephants are free, no one rides or inslaver them is terific. The staff are professionals not flattering anyone. Highly recommanded Ariel Zachar
