3. Perth: Orca Cruise, Scenic Flight, and Camel Farm 5-Day Tour
Discover the wonders of Western Australia on a 5-day adventure from Perth to Esperance, Hyden, and York. Explore the beaches of Cape Le Grand National Park, visit a camel farm, fly over Middle Island, and go whale watching on a Bremer Bay cruise.
Day 1Meet your driver outside your Perth hotel to begin your adventure. Drive into the heart of the Wheatbelt of Western Australia to reach Bremer Bay. On the unusually named Pussy Cat Hill, view a memorial to Donald Campbell, who set a new world water speed record across Lake Dumbleyung.
Next, enjoy a coffee/tea break with juices, biscuits, muesli bars, nuts, salty snacks, seasonal fruit or vegetables, and dried fruit, including gluten-free options. As you drive to the south coast, refresh yourself with a cold drink.
Day 2
After breakfast, embark on an all-day Orca Whale expedition. As the pristine and scenic bays and cliffs of one of the world’s most ancient coastlines slip from your sight, the sparkling turquoise waters change to the deep blue of the Southern Ocean.
Spend the day exploring the only place in Australia you can reliably encounter killer whales (orca), the ocean’s undisputed apex predator.
Day 3Enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading off on a leisurely drive to Esperance to visit Cape Le Grand National Park. Indulge in the photo-worthy white beaches, the whitest in Australia as certified by Geoscience Australia, and admire the turquoise waters of Lucky Bay.
Day 4Have breakfast before taking in sweeping views during a scenic flight over Middle Island and the dazzling pink of Lake Hillier. Keep an eye out for the brilliant white beaches and dense woodland surrounding the lake.
Back on land, enjoy a scenic drive along Great Ocean Drive with its many highlights and lookouts. As you leave the Southern Ocean behind, head towards the Wave Rock in Hyden, where you'll spend the night.
Day 5After breakfast, visit the famous Wave Rock, also called “breakers wave.” Get plenty of time to explore and learn about the story of this natural wonder. Afterward, drive through the wide-stretched West Australian Wheatbelt to reach York at about lunchtime.
A quaint short stroll in the oldest inland settlement of W.A. will take you back to the time of the first settlers. The well-maintained and renovated houses boasting their original facades still give off the atmosphere of the pioneer’s time.
Next, head to a camel farm to learn about the history and modern use of the single-humped desert ships here in Australia before returning to Perth for drop-off.
