Kardamyli: Sea Kayaking With Lunch

1. Kardamyli: Sea Kayaking With Lunch

Your trip starts at Kardamyli’s old harbor. Before departure, you will be briefed on some details including kayak paddling techniques and safety measures. Soon, you'll get into your kayak and begin paddling at a relaxed pace giving you time to take in the beautiful surroundings. Each cove hides a special surprise such as hidden sea caves, rock gardens, cliffs with spectacular rock formations, and hidden sandy beaches. One of the top attractions on this trip is a visit to the Blue Cave, a spectacular natural phenomenon where sunlight passes through a crack in the cave and reflects on the seafloor, bathing the entire cave in aquamarine light. A swim into the cave is a once in a lifetime experience. Weather and time permitting, you may head to Stoupa for a stop at the beach of Kalogria with its fine golden sand and turquoise waters. Halfway, stop for some swimming, snorkeling and a picnic with freshly baked bread, organic fruits and vegetables, homemade olive oil, and cheese. Once the lunch stop is over, you'll paddle back to the starting point to end this fun, adventurous day.

Navarino Bay: Sea Kayaking with Lunch

2. Navarino Bay: Sea Kayaking with Lunch

Navarino Bay lies in front of the town of Pylos. It is a natural harbor where the island of Sphacteria stands as a wave breaker, protecting the bay from winds of the open Ionian Sea. The bay offers ideal conditions for Sea Kayaking trips, especially for beginners. The bay itself is a place of incredible natural beauty, with an impressive landscape, warm, crystal clear, waters and golden sandy beaches where sea turtles often return to lay their eggs. Sea kayaking here is a must definitely do without a doubt. Meet your guides at Divari beach just a few kilometers away from the charming village of Gialova. Your guide will brief you on paddling techniques, safety measures, and equipment. Soon we shall hop on our kayaks for a trip around the Navarino bay like never before. Heading west we paddle towards the imposing Rock, the islet located at the south side of the bay. The Rock is also a place of nesting and resting place for many species of birds. We admire its impressive natural stone arch and visit a few of its sea caves and galleries. Our next stop is the unhabituated island of Sphacteria. Here, we jump out of our kayaks, stretch our legs and walk to the island’s viewpoint for taking pictures of an idyllic landscape and for story-telling. A few minutes later we shall make a stop at a secluded beach for swimming and snorkeling, and why not some cliff diving for those who feel more adventurous. Here we shall also taste our homemade picnic of local delicacies and relax under the sun. After this energy pumped stop, we will paddle back to the starting point to end an amazing day in the tranquility of Navarino Bay.

This was a friendly, organized and surprisingly pleasurable experience from start to finish. George, the owner, is also one of two guides and he immediately makes you confident with an entertaining basic-skills class. Everyone gets involved and his enthusiasm is infectious. And rightly so, the area is beautiful and seeing it from the perspective of a kayak is worth it. Your route includes well-timed rest points which brings everyone together and lets George, who is a local, point out everything from geology to local history. Then you see the Blue Caves and you'll never forget the experience. Always under the watchful eye of your guides, the trip includes a tasty lunch on a small beach followed by a leisurely paddle back, right on schedule. Excellent. And then you get the photos they took. Wow

This was a fun and exceptionally well organised trip. George, our guide, knows his stuff and is excellent at giving you kayaking tips and making you feel secure. He pitched the pace really well so that it felt enjoyable. We loved the feeling of adventure and the places we visited were surprising and absolutely stunning. George filled us in on the history and culture of the area and we felt like we learned a lot. The picnic lunch was fresh and delicious. It was great receiving an album of photos to record our exciting experience but best of all are our memories. Thank you George. You are a friendly and knowledgeable guide and this was definitely a standout event during our Greek holiday. Definitely value for money.

Fantastic trip with amazing guides! We loved it! We had a beautiful day and got to see a lot of the gorgeous scenery in Mani and hidden treasures in the caves.

We really enjoyed the kayak tour. The blue cave was amazing. The lunch was delicious and nutritious. Rock and Yiorgas were great guides!

An exciting way to visit a little bit more of the coast you don’t see.
