Parody started his business in 1941 which in those early days offered one tour, this was the first and now named “The Original Rock Tour” it is still the most popular. Over the decades Parodytur progressed as both the market and transportation developed. A true entrepreneur Sixto soon recognised the opportunity to offer tours into Spain, and as the boom of foreign holidays hit in the seventies, Parodytur were leading the drive to transport visitors to the Costa del Sol into Gibraltar. Now “The Rock” is the number 1 day trip for visitors to Southern Spain. In the past twenty years Parodytur has developed into one of the most prominent tour companies not only in Gibraltar but also Spain. In 2011 over 100,000 visitors were transported from the Costa del Sol to Gibraltar and Parodytur also guides hundreds of thousands of cruise ship day visitors around Gibraltar on a yearly basis. Parodytur is a family business with Sixto passing the business to his son Albert, who now takes the back seat as his son, named Sixto after his grandfather, works with an established management team to push the business forward. As well as being accredited by the Gibraltar Tourist Board, Parodytur also works closely with the Government to progress tourism to “The Rock”. Parodytur now works in conjunction with some of Europe’s biggest brand names including British Airways, easyjet, Thomas Cook and many others.
