Travel back in time at the Roman City of Carnuntum, where part of a Roman city quarter was reconstructed in an internationally unique project. Get a glimpse into Roman society with re-erected buildings in their original locations, decorative details, and furniture based on archaeological finds made on-site. Feel like a guest in the Romans' living rooms, marvel at the ancient baths, and go back to the world of gladiators in the amphitheatre and gladiator school.       Meeting point

      Carnuntum is well connected with Vienna via trains that run every hour. From Vienna City Center "Wien Mitte - Landstraße" take the Line S7 in the direction of Wolfsthal. Get off at the Petronell-Carnuntum station. After a short walk of 15 minutes (follow the signs), you reach the Roman City Carnuntum. From Vienna by car, take the A4 (in direction of Budapest/airport) - exit Fischamend/Bratislava B9 (Pressburger Bundesstraße, Richtung Hainburg a.d. Donau) to Petronell-Carnuntum or Bad Deutsch-Altenburg. From Bratislava by car take the B9 (Pressburger Bundesstraße) in direction of Vienna to to Petronell-Carnuntum or Bad Deutsch Altenburg .

      Die Anlage ist großartig hergerichtet. Durch die Rekonstruktionen ist alles gut vorsteĺbar. Die Kulturvermittlerinnen erzählen spannend und kompetent, sodass man viel Neues erfährt. Die Sache mit den 3-D-Brillen funktioniert leider grottenschlecht, aber sie ist kein wirklicher Mehrwert. Schade nur, dass man sie um 10 Euro kaufen muss um es zu probieren. Zahlt sich nicht aus. Der Besuch an sich hingegen auf jeden Fall!!!
