Full description

On this 2-hour walking tour you will learn about the city’s darker side as you glance into its macabre underbelly. Paris has a long and tragic history of murder and execution, of rampant disease among the lower classes, and of bitter wars fought against a corrupt monarchy. The tour rips open the cloak of darkness, as you wind down alleyways and cut through the hushed night. Your English-speaking guide will take you to sites such as the Place de la Vert Gallant, where the last of the Knights’ Templar was burned at the stake. You will visit St Germain de Auxerrois, where estimates say some 30,000 people were killed in the St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre. Your guide will point out places of interest as you stroll, leaving no stone unturned. As you delve into stories of ritual worship, you will learn about characters like Napoleon Bonaparte, Marie Antoinette and Henry IV, as well as the serial killers that once stalked these ghastly streets.

Our guide Ami was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He made the tour interesting and we saw bits of Paris that we would not have seen otherwise. Highly recommended if you like history. He helped me sort out the timelines of various monarchs and the geography of the world in my head and linked the past to the present time and place. Good evening. ( Lot of walking and steps)

The tour was perfectly structured and Victorie was a wonderful guide. Along with our teenage kids, we went in a number of tours around the world and this one was one of the best. The information was heavily based on Paris’s and French history, therefore it was interesting and useful. The fact that it touched a lot a certain compact historic period helped, since it made sense and was connected for a larger picture. All in all, both fun and useful, a memorable experience.

I was able to experience the tour at Victoire (I hope that's how it's spelled) and it was incredibly fun. The stories were super interesting and you also saw great corners of Paris. I would highly recommend the tour to everyone!! In hindsight I am very glad that I decided to do this tour! Thank you again!!
