Full description
Explore the legendary Montmartre district of Paris on a private 2-hour walking tour, and learn how the former suburb outside the city’s jurisdiction went from being a den of iniquity to the fashionable, bohemian center it is today. Along the way, your personal guide will tell you stories of illegal alcohol and “obscene” Can-Can dancers, show you lavish houses next to run-down slums, and describe the birth of Impressionism in the 19th century. Uncover its layered history along some of the beautiful - and not so beautiful - streets, stopping at landmark monuments, such as the Metro Blanche (formerly Maison Blanche), Moulin Rouge, and Moulin de la Galette. Climb the ancient Rue Lepic, and marvel at the white façade of the Sacre Coeur. See street artists in Place du Tertre, and discover the vineyards of the Vigne de Montmartre. Visit the Lapin Agile cabaret, and learn how it was a favored spot among struggling artists and writers, including Picasso and Modigliani.

Beautiful Montmarte

We had a private walking tour with Boris who had excellent Englishband a very broad depth of knowledge about Paris and its history. We are so glad we did this tour and got to see and learn about this lovely part of Paris. Even our two boys aged 10 and 12 really enjoyed listening to Boris

Knowledgeable Guide in Montmartre

I booked a guide for a private tour in Montmartre, for a group of American university students. Chloe was extremely knowledgeable about this region of Paris, and clearly very passionate about French history and the many iconic people who have made Montmartre their home over the years. However, she didn't project her voice enough for a group of 20 people, so many people had difficulty hearing her. Her English was impeccable. In assisting me to plan the tour, Boris was incredibly helpful, even making a restaurant booking for the end of the tour.
