We never even got into the palace of Versailles or the grounds. The queue for people who already had tickets was over 3 hours long, and the heat was about 33 degrees. There was no shade and no access to food or toilets until you had reached the entrance and we needed both, so after 1 1/2 hours we decided that we had to leave. We were very disappointed and wasted 4 tickets. There should be some information about queuing length.

We arrived hungry and thirsty but it took ages to locate a cafe, restaurant didn’t seem to be functioning but there was no notice about it. Once we found the cafe, it was excellent. Good service, good refreshments. The museum is spectacular, a wonderful setting for excellent works of art.

Great experience definitely suggest getting the skip the line tickets. It’s a beautiful museum but they don’t have all the Van Gogh’s right now, some are on loan. The only issue is getting a “flow” as you go through, it’s not exceptionally organized. May be better with an audio guide.
