Full description

This experience combines the best of a guided tour at the price of a self-guided visit. Meet your guide outside the Louvre Museum by the statue of Louis XIV, a man on a horse in front of the famous pyramid. From here, you begin your journey with your guide on a mini walking tour of the famous spots all around the world famous museum you are soon to enter. Find out why Louis XIV moved out of the Louvre so he could live in his new digs in the country aka Versailles. As you stand under the famous Arc de Carrousel, learn the historic significance of the nearby Tuileries Gardens, its former palaces and the royals who once lived in them. Stroll along the gardens and view what is known as the Historic Axis of Paris, and you'll see the Luxor Obelisk at the Place Concorde. It's a beautiful Parisian square now, but it was once called Place de Revolution, the scene of beheadings for Marie Antoinette and thousands of other aristocrats. Look farther and you can even glimpse the most famous arch of them all: the Arc de Triomphe. Continue with your guide towards the river Seine and see many famous sites, including the imposing Conciergerie, where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned before her execution. You'll return through the back entrance of the Louvre, passing gorgeous gilded gates to the rear courtyard and continue through the dark archway into the main courtyard once again. Here, the Cour Napoleon opens wide before you and you'll once again see the statue of Louis XIV on horseback. Your guide will make sure you have your timed entry ticket for the museum, and now you are ready to enter the Louvre for your self-guided visit with an appreciation for the historic context of the landmarks that surround it. Your guided portion will last 45 minutes. Then, either explore the Louvre Museum on your own with your skip-the-line entry ticket or select the option to enjoy a private tour of the Louvre. Once you leave your guide and enter the museum, your self-guided visit could last anywhere from 1-4 hours. And the memories will last a lifetime.

I wish we could remember his name, but his honesty was the cutest. The guided tour part with him is outside. There was some confusion on that. You do the inside by yourself. Just be aware of this. Over all a great tour.
