Full description
Get a glimpse into the turbulent history of the French Republic, with priority access to the Conciergerie. Originally built as a royal palace in the 14th century, the building became a prison when the royal family moved residence. During the French Revolution the prison was known as "the antechamber to the guillotine."   Explore the cells of criminals and the tombs of heroes of the French Revolution. Discover the chapel that was once the prison cell where Marie Antoinette was held. See the largest remaining medieval hall in Europe, the Salle des Gens d’Armes. Choose to be accompanied by an histopad, and go back in time using this augmented reality tool. Explore the medieval rooms, as well as the spaces that have now disappeared. Visit before November 14, 20221 and see the temporary exhibition En quête de Liberte by El Anatsui. The exhibit is a poetic set up that favors meditation and the passing of time.

Wonderful visit to this restored place which is definitely worth a visit. Histopad is a plus with children: augmented reality makes it possible to see places as they once were and this interactive tablet is less tedious for young people than reading signs or brochures! We stayed 1h30 on site with my 10-year-old daughter who was very interested.

A great void which brings nothing more than two wasted hours. Ultimately, the Grévin museum covers the revolution part better than the Conciergerie, which remains full of emptiness.
