Our tour guide, Valerie, was great! She focused on what was of interest to us, to make our tour perfect. Her knowledge of the louvre’s history was great, interesting and exciting! We were able to see all the pieces that were of interest to us and along to way to each piece, Valerie may see a piece and she took the opportunity to explain it to us as she walked to the next piece we wanted to see. Great experience!

  • From Paris: Fairytale Loire Castles with Wine Tasting

    3. From Paris: Fairytale Loire Castles with Wine Tasting

From Paris, head to Château de Chambord. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in "Beauty and the Beast." Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed.

Learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci, enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views, and glimpse wild deer around the grounds.

Having worked up an appetite, get back on the bus and continue on to the next stop: the quaint town of Blois. Take some free time to enjoy lunch (at your own expense) in one of the restaurants located around the beautiful and vibrant Square Louis XII.

Alternatively, grab a bite and visit ...

This was a wonderful day with a lot to see and do - from the magical castles to the wine-tasting and walking. The guide Addie was so informative and interesting, and the driver Eric was excellent. Everything was made easy. The guide gave tips on the best way to view a site so that you can maximise the visit - such as which rooms to see first and then what to do if there is still time. Because of this information, I made sure to fit in some of the things to do "at the end" - such as visiting the flower garden or the horse stables. I loved the little restaurant too in Blois, and had a relaxing lunch.
