Full description
Following pickup from your hotel, you will travel to Alajuela Lake where you will board a piragua, a traditional indigenous canoe. From there you will head to the Mono Waterfall where you can swim and refresh yourself. Following that, head to Tusipono Embera, a small traditional village located on the bank of the Chagres River in the middle of the rainforest. There the Emberas will show you their traditions, including their way of dressing and how they elaborate their handcrafts. They will then perform their traditional dances and music, before you are provided with some time to interact directly with them. You'll finally enjoy a local lunch as prepared by the Embera community, before being returned to your tour starting point.

Our group had 10 people all over the age of 50. We booked against our better judgment but everyone from Juan to the Embera went above and beyond to help those in our group who had mobility issues. When we arrived at the village, the Embera were absolutely wonderful. Lunch was delicious. Our village guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions graciously. Although it was risky for some in our group to attempt the trek by canoe to the waterfall, it was an adventure well worth the risk. A once in a lifetime experience.

A fantastic experience! Be sure to wear sturdy water shoes, and shorts or capris, since you will be walking in knee-deep water. our guide Juan was phenomenal. The local guides were also great and eager to assist us to navigate pretty rough terrain. Worth every penny.
