Full description
Experience a uniquely relaxing 3-hour cruise through the sheltered waters of the Bay of Islands and visit the iconic Hole in the Rock and Cape Brett. Depart from Paihia or Russel and cruise through the inner islands of the bay as you listen to live commentary on the history, scenery, and ecology of this location.   Arrive at the mighty Hole in the Rock (Motokokako Island) where, according to Māori legend, local warriors used to paddle through the hole in their canoes before departing for battle. Drops of water from the cave roof above were a good omen. If conditions permit, your skipper will expertly guide the ship through the narrow space. If you get dripped on, consider yourself lucky!   Keep an eye out for marine and bird life during your cruise, and have your camera ready to capture that perfect shot. Sit on the Dolphin Seeker’s indoor or outdoor seating, and take advantage of the largest viewing decks in the Bay of Islands.   Return to Russell or Paihia and use your free one-way ferry ticket to take in more of the birthplace of New Zealand.
