About the activity provider
Oxford Walking Tours have been operating from the blue gates of Trinity College on Broad St for 27 years. Our University educated guides come with years of experience and local knowledge of the City and University. The day tours go into the oldest colleges, including New College, founded in 1379, and seen in Harry Potter, Inspector Morse and Lewis. Exeter College is visited on most tours, was founded in 1314 and is seen in the final episode of Morse. Hertford College, founded in 1282, is seen in Brideshead Revisited. All tours go to the University Library. Admission fees into the colleges are included in the ticket price, unlike most other walking tours of Oxford. On our tours you will learn about the history of the city and the university. We will explain the collegiate system of tutorial unique to Oxford and Cambridge. Discover the famous alumni who studied and taught at the university. Go inside the oldest college dining hall, chapel, cloisters and quadrangles. In the evenings, when colleges are closed, we offer Ghost Tours where you will discover why Oxford is one of the most haunted cities in the world. The Walking tours and Ghost tours operate all year round. The duration of the tours are 90 minutes and involve less than one mile of walking. French, Italian and other language speaking guides are also available for group/private tours. Tickets can be purchased from the guide prior to departure, with no need to pre-book. Colleges are subject to close at anytime. Suitable alternative colleges will be visited instead. Private/Group tours are available throughout the year with the price of the tour depending on group size and tour length. Themed tours and tours in other languages are available on request. We can also offer walking tours in London and Cambridge.
