Full description
Get to know Odessa by foot with a private, half-day walking tour. Begin by traveling from the pier, along the 192 Potemkin Stairs, to the city center. At the top, arrive at Primorsky Boulevard, a shady seaside promenade that offers a picturesque panorama of Odessa Bay and abounds in historical and architectural monuments. Follow your guide to the western end of the boulevard where Vorontsov Palace is situated. A short walk along a footbridge nicknamed "Mother-in-Law Bridge" will lead you to the pedestrian-only part of the boulevard, which is better known as "A Piece of Old Odessa." Take a gentle walk along Gogol Street to Tolstoy Palace and walk through the gardens. Keep going until you reach the recently restored Ekaterina Square, and stroll through the pleasant tree-filled City Garden. Continue along Deribassovskaya Street, the central pedestrian street of Odessa. With its numerous hotels, restaurants, cafes, and shops, it is the major commercial street and a popular place to take a stroll. Not to miss is Passage, a lavishly ornate shopping mall and a hotel built in 1899 which boasts rows of Baroque sculptures. Next, view the exterior of the famous Opera and Ballet Theatre and see the Archaeological Museum with its graceful columns. Walking down past the Museum of Maritime History, former English Club, you will find yourself at the eastern end of the boulevard, where a statue of Pushkin stands. Opposite the statue is the imposing colonnaded Odessa City Hall.

Stanislav was knowledgable and pleasant. A great intro to Odessa!

With only a few days to spend in Odessa on this trip, the private guided half-day tour was a perfect way to see and learn as much as possible in a short amount of time. Four hours is plenty of time to see central Odessa and get a solid introduction to the town and its history. The guide is catered to your own interests, and so there's flexibility to what you see and do. Highly recommend this for anyone who wants to get a taste of the city and its history.

Avenues and courtyards of Odesa!

This walking tour of the elegant city of Odesa takes in the grand, the classical, the sublime and the quirky elements of this most scenic, still historically young city. The young guide belies her age with a comprehensive knowledge of all facets of the history, architecture, contemporary and the politics at play. The best feature was probably the view of quiet inner courtyards and entrance ways, little changed in hundreds of years. Rich with old wells, stables, spiral staircases, festooning vines and myriad, curious cats!. An important aspect of Odessan city life that a cursory tourist walk will unlikely see on their own. Very enjoyable and a great introduction to this vibrant pearl on the Black Sea,... thanks to Natalia and her elegant, eclectic Odesa!!

Wonderful Odessa Experience

This has been an amazing trip into life in Odessa, I got insight not only of its rich past but of its living and breathing modern rhythm as well. I fell in love with the stories Natlia told and all the wonderful places she showed. Her knowledge in different areas such as literature, history and culture is deep and rich and she presents information in a truly fascinating way in excellent English. It was important for me to feel the vibe of the city and get off the beaten track and all the tourist traps and it was definitely a mission accomplished. Of course I saw all the important landmarks but there were also some secret hidden gems that I was shown. Definitely a tour to recommend and an unforgettable experience to cherish.
