Nuenen seen through the eyes of Vincent van Gogh. By train from Amsterdam, you will go to Eindhoven to visit the village of Nuenen. Oasis of peace and green, wedged in between the urban areas of Eindhoven and Helmond. Vincent only lived in Nuenen for two years, but painted a quarter of his oeuvre there, including his first masterpiece ‘The Potato Eaters’. Of course, the world-famous painter worked in several countries and produced his most characteristic and best-known works in France. But it was not without reason that Vincent van Gogh’s painting really flourished in Nuenen. It was his fascination with peasant life and the beauty of the village that inspired Van Gogh. The typical structure of a ribbon settlement with triangular squares and hamlets. He saw the Park and the Mountain where the cattle stood drinking. The historic core which gave way to a typical Brabant landscape with small fields, rows of poplars and the former flood plains of the Dommel in the Nuenens Broek. This Nuenen you can still see today. Cycling through a painting Just outside Nuenen, a unique cycle path located at the place where Van Gogh painted the Opwettense Watermill and the Collse Watermill. Exactly between these two mills lies this unique 600 meter cycle path, inspired by The Starry Night. As dusk falls, the path is illuminated by thousands of sparkling stones. You cycle through the painting. After your visit to Nuenen, you will return to Amsterdam and visit the van Gogh Museum. Our guide Nigel in Nuenen did a fabulous job as our guide. I enjoyed the lovely walk in the beautiful countryside while learning about the interesting life and times of VanGogh. Our driver was helpful and friendly. The VanGogh museum was a spectacular end to the day where we saw a immense amount of beautiful paintings by VanGogh and other great artists related to him. VanGogh was a genius who was too beautiful for this world! I am so happy I was privileged to have this awesome experience with my son Christian.
