This tour takes us through breathtaking landscapes and beautiful scenery. To arrive in Siglufjörður, we will have to pass through 3 tunnels, but our tour will take us a bit further and through the 4th tunnel to an enjoyable viewing point. We will be making short stops in the Village of Hjalteyri, a unique town from the herring era. As well as having a look at Hauganes and Árskógssandur. We'll pass through Dalvík and Ólafsfjörður, two nice fishing towns. There will be time to explore Siglufjörður and the Herring Era Musem (subject to them being open).

2. From Akureyri: Private Lake Mývatn Day Trip with Local Guide

A great tour around the lake Mývatn area where we see how the power of nature has formed the country and how it's still working beneath our feet. We explore beautiful spots and enjoy the stunning scenery along the way. We start our tour in Akureyri and drive east towards the beautiful Goðafoss waterfall, where we'll make our first stop. The waterfall is a place of significant historic value connected with when Icelanders took Christianity. We continue east from Goðafoss; we'll pass through the valley of Reykjadalur and head to Skútustaðir, where we see the pseudocraters. Our next stop is the stunning lava formations at Dimmuborgir. Dimmuborgir were formed about 2300 years ago when a partly cooled lava lake drained out and left magnificent basalt pillars and sculptures. After a short walk in Dimmuborgir, we'll travel to Grjótagjá, which was a popular underground bathing cave until the volcanic eruptions at Krafla 1975-1984. Those eruptions heated the water in the cave, so now it's too hot to bathe there. We now continue through the Námaskarð pass and go to the Hverarönd fumarole fields, a spectacular area showing the earth's inner power. After this, we'll be heading back towards Akureyri; if time, weather and conditions allow, we'll find some good places to stop for pictures

An easy and short tour to Goðafoss, also known as the water of the gods, which played a role in the christening of Iceland. We drive to the waterfall and spend some time there, and then we head back to Akureyri, stopping at some good photo points on the way if weather and time allow. On the way to Goðafoss, we drive on the east bank of Eyjafjörður and pass through the valley of Fnjóskadalur.

What people are saying about Northeastern Region, Iceland

The therme is not as crowded as the blue lagoon. The smell is a bit strong at first but you get used to it. We recommend. Especially since the ticket is valid for the whole day. We were even there an hour after the specified time and came in relaxed.

It was very nice organized and informative trip. The weather was not perfect for us but the beauty of nature still impressed us to the maximum. Definitely worth it. Highly recommended if you want to experience the diamond circle !

Bring plastic bag because they do not have appliance for drying wet swimsuits. Only one house hair dryer in changing room for 50 womens. Everything else is better then Blue lagoon.

A must do activity! It was a bit crowded when we were there, but relaxing all the same. Such a beautiful location and very clean.

Perfect location. The water was clean and the whole experience totally worth it.
