Giverny: Monet's House and Gardens Guided Tour
- Small group
- Duration: 1.5 hours
What an incredible experience! Wow. We are so glad we ended up with this one! It was a very full day and truly nothing was left out. Our first stop was a Battery where we got to go inside the bunkers and learn about battle area there. There are still in tact cannons from DDay inside some of the bunkers which was crazy to witness. We then went to Omaha Beach, and and got to spend some time walking the area after our guide shared the history there. Afterwards we went to Point Du Hoc where the US Rangers climbed the ocean cliffs in order to take control of that stronghold. It was surreal to see the ground covered in huge divots where ally bombs were dropped. We stopped for lunch at a local Creperie, then spent time at the DDay Memorial and Cemetery. We ended with cider tasting at a local cider farm which was incredible and such a unique experience! Olivia, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and personable and her English was perfect. It was an experience we will never forget!
Antoine was excellent! Very friendly and professional. We had a small group, 5 people which was nice. We went on January 3rd, and in the morning it was pretty empty which was wonderful!! It’s truly an astounding sight to see. However around 2- the crowds came and its very narrow, hard to walk, the restaurants filled up. Antoine said this was considered slow! He said in busy season- everyone marches slowlyyyy up the narrow street all bottle necking. If you get anxiety in crowds or small spaces, I would only go in a slow season. I’m so glad we got to experience it though. My favorite part was walking up to it, so surreal. Couldn’t put my camera down. Oh! To get away from the crowds, navigate to the wall ramparts, the walk is relatively empty and peaceful. The crepe place recommended to us by a friend “la sirene”, a hidden gem...not so hidden anymore. It’s upstairs from a souvineer shop with a big line. Overall lovely tour. Antoine was great!!! Thank you thank you !!!!
It was not mentioned in the instructions that you have to queue in Paris City Vision office to exchange your voucher for ticket that indicates your bus number. Mont San Michel is a fantastic place. Too crowded though. Would love to stay longer to contemplate but the trip takes 5 hours one way giving just enough time to finish the guide map and taste the local dishes the island has to offer. Some passengers weren't punctual enough that caused some delay in going to the island and back to Paris.
we had an excellent lady guide, Mrs Gaëlle Lotton, who not only knew the History of the place perfectly well, but also how to tell it in an entertaining and interesting way. Despite the Covid-restrictions in place, we enjoyed our visit thoroughly (the more so as for once there were less people around, the masses of tourists during the summer normally being somewhat overwhelming)
Excellent tour. The guide was brilliant, very informative and helpful. The day is well organised considering it’s a very long day, with a great tour up to the abbey. I definitely recommend to take the guided tour as you will learn the history. A great trip!
