Rio de Janeiro: 30 or 60-Minute Highlights Helicopter Tour

1. Rio de Janeiro: 30 or 60-Minute Highlights Helicopter Tour

For the 30-minute helicopter sightseeing flight, experience the spectacular sights of Rio de Janeiro from the sky. As you take off from the airport located near the Olympic center, head upwards and fly towards the shores of Barra da Tijuca. The captain will take you along the shoreline over Rio’s fabulous beaches of Barra da Tijuca, Joatinga, São Conrado, Leblon, Ipanema, and Copacabana.  Next, see highlights of the city, which include Sugarloaf Mountain and the impressive Christ the Redeemer statue, standing atop Corcovado Mountain. Enjoy plenty of opportunities to take unique photos while hovering in the sky. Alternatively, upgrade your tour to the 60-minute tour, which is the same as the 30-minute tour but also includes flying over the Modern Museum of Art of Niterói, Santos Dumont Airport, Downtown Rio, Maracanã Stadium, Tijuca Forest, and more. Book your flight during the day, at sunset or in the evening up until 8 PM..

After pickup, sit back and relax during the 1-hour drive from Rio to Niterói. Take the opportunity to snap some photos as you cross Guanabara Bay. Learn about the old capital of Rio state and how the name comes from the indigenous Tupi language. Make your first stop in downtown Niterói and visit the Niemeyer Way, a series of works by the renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer. Sites such as the Oscar Niemeyer Popular Theatre, Oscar Niemeyer Foundation, and Roberto Silveira Memorial extend for 11km in the coastal neighborhoods of the city. Continue on to Juscelino Kubitschek Square. Head to Niterói Contemporary Art Museum, known locally as ‘the MAC’ and the highlight of this day trip. Revel at the interesting and inventive shape of what is considered one of the greatest works by Niemeyer. See contemporary art inside the museum. Make a quick stop at São Pedro Fish Market to finish off the tour. See where most restaurants buy their fresh fish and seafood. Finally, be dropped off back at your accommodation in Rio.

Pick up and drop off were easy at the Marina where there is a little store you can buy any last minute items you need for your trip, and a bathroom. Our guide, Wellington, did not speak English however we had a Portuguese speaker with us so all was fine. They had 2 medium sized coolers on board with ice and we put our food and drinks in there for the trip. There were four of us and we had ample room to be in the shade or lay/sit on the front to get sun. I wouldn't book for more than about 8 people. We stopped twice to swim in the water. We were able to connect to their speakers with Bluetooth and play our own music as well as request places to go. It was a great day!!

I honestly think one could just get a cab to Niteroi and back for half the price of the trip. The entrance fee is like 2$ so the fee is outrageous. Loved all the buildings designed by Niemeyer , the museum itself , i mean the artworks on display nothing special. Now , our guide Vanessa ( i know it was spelled differently ) totally saved the trip for us , tailoring it to our interests. She was very knowledgeable and knew a lot o about history. Went out and beyond. Great guide !

Despite the fact that we were so late through the traffic, everything worked out so perfectly and super. All of the employees were incredibly friendly and it was so overwhelming that tears of joy flowed. I highly recommend everyone to have this experience!

The flight was very nice. The pilot is very profesional and careful. The agency request you must be 30 minutes before the flight. We don’t know why if they put you on the air 2 hours late.

It was the best experience ever, the pilot was funny and made sure that we felt secure and safe. Great choice!
