Full description
Discover the history of Nimes, going all the way back to the 1st century. Start your visit from the Nîmes Arena going through a beautiful park. Listen as your guide explains the details of the Arena's construction, similar to the Colosseum. Visit the well-preserved Roman Forum in the center of the old city and admire the marvelous Roman columns of this master piece. Reach the Fountain Garden and enjoy a moment of peace amidst the fountains and flowers. A few steps away, marvel at the Temple of Diane, one of the few remaining temples dedicated to the goddess of the hunt and the Moon. Up and away you'll go to climb some steps of the last remaining guard tower of the Roman wall. After the climb you'll be rewarded with one of the most beautiful views of Nimes. Last but not the least, explore the incredible aqueduct.

Marc was very personable and informative and kept the tour at a nice pace; so much better than an audio tour! We even took up his recommendation to walk across the Rhône to the abbey and gardens in the afternoon.
