Full description
Discover the history of two of New York’s most iconic monuments on a half-day morning tour of Liberty Island, with a visit to the Statue of Liberty Museum and Ellis Island. Arrive at the grounds just under the watchful eye of Lady Liberty, where great views across NYC's skyline, Lower Manhattan, and the Big Apple await. Hop on the ferry to Ellis Island and follow in the footsteps of some 12 million immigrants and learn about the process those hopeful individuals went through to settle in America. View and walk the Stairs of Separation, growing to understand the Island's two very unique names - "The Island of Hope" and "The Island of Tears". After your guide has explained to you the history, they will give you the option to continue your exploration of Ellis Island on your own with the audio guide (included) or return to The Battery on the ferry with them. If you wish, feel free to stay on Ellis Island a bit longer to explore your personal heritage and find all the unique and interesting sights in the special location.

Despite a half hour delay in getting started due to some ticketing glitch, the tour was excellent, primarily due to the skills and delivery by our guide Alvaro. He knew all the details and his delivery was superb - just right amount of humor, detail, even suspense to keep our attention. The tour ended at Ellis Island and gave us as much time as we wanted to explore, but the tour description should note that for a full experience at Ellis Island, one should allot at least 2-3 hours

Don’t tour the Statue without a guide. For most people it’s a once in a lifetime visit, and if you go without a guide you’ll miss some good things. Our Guide Jacob was fun. He was knowledgeable and presented the information in an interesting way. He knew the short cuts to take, things not to miss (like the Kissing Post on Ellis Island) and never made me feel like this was just a job to him. He more than deserved his tip!

Fantastic!

Jacob our tour guide, and local Nycer was absolutely fantastic. His knowledge of the tour was second to non and his knowledge of the city meant his tour continued throughout our stay because of his recommendations. He was incredibly approachable, friendly and got a real camaraderie going between the group. I would highly recommend This tour and hope to get Jacob as your guide because he is a great guy and host.
