This was one of the very best walking tours I have ever taken. Doris was a fantastic guide (born and raised in Harlem): very knowledgeable and a wealth of information. Incredible energy, also. The tour was supposed to end at 2 and we went until after 3:30! (Doris checked to make sure no one had a conflict with going over.). It was really cold that day, and she treated the participants to a pastry, hot chocolate (very nice touch!) and of course the delicious lunch which was included in the price. I learned a tremendous amount about Harlem, particularly the Harlem Renaissance. The tour covered both architecture and cultural and social history. Well worth both the time and the cost. Doris was great and I would highly recommend her and this tour!! I was also pleased when the tour went on with only two participants plus Doris. No last minute cancellation.

The tour was awesome! My family and I learned so much about the rich history of Harlem. We wish we would have taken the tour earlier in our visit so that we could come back and visit different places. Our tour guide was patient and extremely knowledgeable and the lunch at Manny’s was amazing!!

The guide is a long time resident of Harlem and wonderfully suited to tell the cultural history. She covers historical buildings, people of the area and happenings. If you are an older adult, these are things you have heard about and will find it interesting to know more, If you are younger, you will find it interesting to hear for the first time. The neighborhood lunch restaurant offers a great tasty lunch w good selection.
