In the basement there is currently a beautiful exhibition with works by Sascha Repeated, a very interesting documentation of the creation and renovation of the New National Gallery and a well thought-out presentation of contemporary art from the 1st half of the 20th century. On the upper floor, an "exhibition" by a concept artist that I did not understand with different texts in different sized letters in 3 colors all over the floor, which made it possible to enjoy the wonderful, open architecture of the entire room with the connection to the outside.

My visit to the Neue Nationalgalerie was incredible. Merely being inside the building is an experience on it's own as the architecture and design is incredible. The soaring ceilings on the ground level provided the perfect backdrop for the Alexander Calder exhibition.

Loved all work from the expressionist artists, the likes of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Irma Stern, Auguste Herbin, Max Beckmann

Magnificent building with really excellent and provocative permanent collection.

Lovely museum. Easy and convenient access with the GetYourGuide app!
