TIP: I think you can take the morning boat to the final stop where the boat turns around (the village with 4 castles) and then stay there for a few hours, then get back on the boat in the afternoon on its final voyage of the day to come back to . I wish I had know this bc I would have done it. I guess you just tell the crew?? Of course double check on this! The trip was nice but felt like we spent quite a lot of time going through the locks. I would say about 10 mins at least per lock. 3 up. 3 down. But it was nice don’t get me wrong and obviously that’s the only way to get up river. It was just hot with no breeze. Bring sunblock, hats, something to cover your arms. There’s only a small area of upper deck outside that’s covered and I nearly got thrown overboard by a gaggle of older women who rushed to claim the tables. Needless to say, I was in the sun the whole time. I could have gone downstairs. It was nice too. But I liked it up top and wanted the view.

Disappointed that we were only on the actual river a little over an hour. Most of the time was spent on the coach getting there and back. The guide was great. The dinner was like cafeteria food. The sights were beautiful as was the town of Rudeshiem. Wish we would have had more time to explore.

Once we were on the boat, the ride was very nice. However, the actual dock is 1 kilometer from the meeting point, which is an important detail if you're traveling with kids, older folks, or really if you are walking. This is always the case, as there isn't very much parking available near the ticket counter or the docks. If it hadn't been for an observant captain of a different vessel, we would never have made it to our boat in time. The venue really needs to have this information up front, as well as a much earlier meet up time to allow for people to walk the kilometer to the actual loading dock.
