Full description
Discover the most extraordinary archaeological site on the Italian peninsula with a 2-hour guided tour of Pompeii. Meet your guide by Pompeii rail station, connected to Naples by regular trains. Then, once you’ve purchased your entrance ticket (not included), walk down streets left intact for more than 2,000 years thanks to its protective covering of volcanic mud. Learn how Pompeii was a rich and populous town in Roman times, full of private and public buildings. Your guide will explain how, on a summer's day in 79 AD, the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice from the violent explosion of Mt. Vesuvius. Rediscover the everyday life of the Roman imperial era, and imagine the panic of the people before the city was buried. Your guide will take you to the Forum and Thermal Baths, as well as the Lupanar, the city’s brothel, where graphic graffiti can still be seen. Discover immaculate frescoes in houses, such as the House of the Faun (Casa del Fauno), one of the largest and most impressive of the city’s mansions.

The guide was very knowledgeable, so much to see and absorb.

Unfortunately we got lost going from Praiano to the Pompeii site and this caused our guide some concerns and worries. The guide felt the stress of our being late, but she rallied and gave us an information packed tour. We did have some issues locating exactly where to meet the guide. We felt special to have a guide for the four of us in our party, this gives an opportunity for individual attention,

Anna was fabulous,

I am mildly disabled and cannot walk far. My partner and my 10 year old daughter love history and we all attempted to discover Pompeii with audio guides and maps that bore no relation to the places we were! I was absolutely exhausted and in a lot of pain after walking so far. We looked online and found Anna, our guide. She was absolutely fabulous. She walked us round at my pace, found places for me to sit whilst she told us all about the history of this wonderful place. We laughed, we learnt loads and most importantly my little girl's interest in history has increased. Thanks to Anna, we are returning in October and will book her again to tour the other areas I was unable to reach. We absolutely recommend her to bring the ruins to life, especially for children!

Gracias!
