Full description
Enjoy a private walking tour of Naples to get a full appreciation of its mix of architectural styles, from the elegant 18th-century palazzos to imposing castles and wonderful churches. Founded by ancient Greeks, the city was once the capital of southern Italy, and has been settled by Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, Swabians, and Spanish Bourbons. Your guide will provide a wealth of history as you explore the historic center, where Neapolitans have lived since the 6th century BC. The tour includes a fascinating walk through the Umberto Primo Gallery and Via Toledo, and a stroll in Piazza del Gesù to see the Church of Gesù Nuovo and the Immacolatella obelisk. Wander down the famous Spaccanapoli to the 14th-century monastery of Santa Chiara and the Piazza San Domenico. In the Cappella San Severo you will find idiosyncratic works of art by 18th century Italian masters, including the Cristo Velato statue. Continue down the narrow Via dei Tribunali to see Naples at its most characteristic. Take an optional look inside the church of Pio Monte della Misericordia to see Carravagio’s "The Seven Works of Mercy," and marvel at the Baroque façade of the 13th-century Duomo. Along the way, experience one of Naples most famous inventions, and sample a slice of authentic Neapolitan pizza.

Definitely worth it!!!

Going round Naples with your own personal guide is definitely the best way to do it. Our guide was Sergio and he was a really good English guide. He told us all the important things about the city. He took us to some fantastic places - beautiful churches, the "old town", in a typical espresso bar, the sea front, and also a great local place for lunch. We spent an entire day with him and it was never boring!

Erika tried hard, but unfortunately could not inspire us. Unfortunately, we didn't learn much about the city's history and the tour was limited to 5 streets in the old town. We expected significantly more for the price. I can better explore the city on my own.
