Our guide Mike (MICHELE), met us at the entrance to Pompeii. He was welcoming and explained exactly what we were going to expect for the afternoon. Immediately Mike was engaging and we were exciting to start the tour. We spent around 2 hours being guided around Pompeii and learning about it’s amazing history. Mike explained and showed us some truly amazing sights we felt very fortunate to learn and see. Throughout the tour, we were entertained and very well informed and we felt Mike went that little bit further. A truly amazing experience guided by an expert who is passionate about, Pompeii and it’s history. Thank you for a wonderful experience Mike...
The priority entrance tickets worked great. When we arrived there was a long line to get in. We were able to just walk through and enter the site immediately. One word of caution - you cannot bring any large bags like a large backpack into the ruins and will need to leave with security - that was free which was a pleasant surprise. You should park in the underground lot to the right before the entrance. You have to pay for that and bring your parking ticket with you and pay upstairs so that the ticket can open the gate on the way out.
I couldnt go to Pompeii as it is currently shut on Mondays so I bought a ticket to Herculaneum thinking that it would be something at least. Im glad Pompeii was shut as although Herculaneum is smaller, it is enough so you dont get ruined out and has some absolutely stunning houses in a fantastic state of preservation. The colours on the walls and in particular the floor of the female bath hojse are so well preserved it takes you back to the time and lets your imagination run riot
Fantastic tour of Herculaneum with our guide Raffaele who was really knowledgeable and passionate about the site. He really brought it to life and gave us excellent insights into day to day life in the town. Preferred Herculaneum to Pompeii, smaller and better preserved mosaics. The site was easy to navigate and the guides were efficient and easy to find and deal with. Thoroughly recommended.
Raffaele was such a fabulous tour guide! He was so rich in knowledge and spoke about Pompeii with such passion. I definitely advise doing a group tour at Pompeii, it makes the experience so much more worth it. Because Raffaele has studied Pompeii he was able to answer everyone’s questions and provide insightful and unique information.
