After pick-up from your hotel at 07:30, depart Ho Chi Minh City and journey to Vinh Trang pagoda, one of the largest in the Mekong Delta. Admire its ornate facade and large Buddha statue. Then, cruise along the Tien River to experience life in the Mekong Delta up close. Pass by 4 small islands - Phoenix, Unicorn, Dragon and Tortoise Island - see lush tropical trees and the typical stilt houses of the fishing villages as you make your way through the narrow canals by rowing boat. Stop for lunch in an orchard garden and then learn how to make coconut candy. Sample sweet pieces of the candy and buy some of your favorites to take home. Savor a snack of fresh fruits and honey tea as locals entertain you with Vietnamese traditional folk music. Return to the minibus for the drive back to Ho Chi Minh City, where you will arrive at approximately 17:00.

Get picked up at your accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City and head to My Tho by bus. Your onboard tour guide will tell you everything about the culture of the locals while you can sit back, relax and enjoy the landscapes and scenery of green rice fields. Stop at the Vinh Trang pagoda on the way. Continue to My Tho and take a boat trip along the Mekong River. During the cruise, see fish cages and floating houses. The boat will take you to a small canal, where you can escape the busy town. The cruise through the coconut trees-lined canal will take you to a coconut island in Ben Tre.  Disembark and explore the village on foot. Visit local families and learn how to make sweets at a candy shop. You can enjoy fruits, honey tea and wine while listening to traditional music. Continue your motor boat trip to Ben Tre province to visit a handmade coconut candy workshop. Then transfer to a small motor boat and travel along the lush, green canals, stopping at local Vietnamese restaurant for some traditional food. Later on, enjoy various types of tropical fruits at the orchard garden and listen to traditional music. At the end of the tour, a local boat will take you back to My Tho. On arrival, through a short video, you are given an introduction into how the Cu Chi Tunnels were made and how the Vietnamese people suffered the hardships during the period of war. Be taken to discover the remaining area and a part of the tunnel network which embraces special living areas – kitchens and bedrooms side by side, and martial facilities – weapon factories, storage, command centers, and field hospitals. Additionally, learn about dangerous traps and hidden trap doors inside the maze-like tunnels for the guerrillas’ security purpose during the wartime. Interestingly, taste special tea and cassava which was once the everyday food of the former Vietnamese guerrillas. Have lunch at a local restaurant and then visit My Tho city. Take a leisurely cruise along Tien River. After, pay a visit to a coconut candy mill, a family business, then be taken down the small canals by wooden sampans to soak up the pleasant atmosphere of the river region. Savor seasonal fruits, take a sip of honey tea and get a sense of Southern Vietnamese folk music through music performed by the locals. You will return to Ho Chi Minh City at approximately 7:00 PM.

A trip to Mekong Delta offers a glimpse into the unique and distinct agrarian life of the vibrant southern Delta region. We will enjoy a cruise along the Mekong River to one of the Islands (located in the town of My Tho) where we will be entertained with traditional music while enjoying some tea sweetened with bee’s honey and seasonal fresh fruits. We will then take a paddle-boat to cruise through the narrow canals of the Mekong. One interesting thing about transportation in this region is that mostly everybody here travels by boats or ships because the number of canals is very interlaced. Here a system of transportation on water is developed so much. By travelling on canals, we can discover many distinct things such as along with the banks, a number of coconut trees grow side by side. The paddle-boat ride provides an interesting look into the local cottage industry of making coconut candies. We will then have a lunch of ‘Elephant-Ear Fish’ combined with other delicious Vietnamese dishes - a local specialty. Visit Vinh Trang Pagoda, which is recognized as a national historical and cultural relic with distinctive architectural and spiritual values, a place worth visiting should not be missed.
