The Museum of the City of New York fosters an understanding of the distinctive nature of urban life in the world’s most influential metropolis. It engages visitors by celebrating, documenting, and interpreting the city's past, present, and future. Located at the top of Museum Mile on Fifth Ave & 103rd St., housed in newly renovated 1932 Georgian Colonial-Revival building the museum is across the street from Central Park’s Conservatory Gardens and the southern end of East Harlem neighborhood. The museum features "New York at Its Core"—an ongoing exhibition in three galleries that explores NYC’s history and future through objects, images, video, photography and interactive digital experience. Attractions includes Timescapes—an ongoing short documentary that brings viewers on 28 minute journey through 400 years of NYC history which runs every 40 minutes. Headsets are available in French, Spanish, and Mandarin. The museum rotates multiple special exhibitions in second and third floor galleries and offers onsite café managed by Amy’s Bread, an award-winning NYC bakery. The Museum Shop offers a wide array of exhibition-related and New York City-centric items and gifts.
