Cross the desert dunes of Muscat by 4WD vehicle, and experience the adrenaline rush of driving across the rugged terrain in an off-road mode of transport. Make your way to the Wahiba Sands to see the traditional homes of the desert nomads and Bedouin tribes. Keep a look-out for the nomads as they move through the desert with their camels. Visit a Bedouin home in the middle of the desert, and contrast the arid landscape with the clear, blue waters of Wadi Bani Khalid. Enjoy a relaxing siesta in the shade of the palm trees, and catch a glimpse of the pretty villages scattered across the slopes of the wadi. Marvel at how the houses cling precariously to the rugged mountain side. Bring your swimming costume to take a dip in the inviting waters!
An enjoyable trip - the driver was particularly helpful throughout the trip. It would be useful to say to take towels in the what to pack section for bathing in the Wadis. Also a picture of what is acceptable to wear when swimming at the wadis (it was displayed on a signpost at the Wadi). We did think lunch was included.
Day 1 Get picked up from anywhere in Muscat and drive to visit the beautiful Nakhl Fortress. Lying amongst mountain foothills in a small village with extensive date palm plantations, this magnificent 350-year-old fortress rises out of the mountain rock, towering high above the ancient village, as if still warning would-be attackers of its ominous strength. Tour the inside of the restored fortress and visit all the rooms which have been decorated in their original style. Learn about the network of hidden escape routes and secret passages that riddle the structure. Admire an outstanding view from the top of the fortress over the mountains and green date plantations. From there, drive into the Wadi Bani Awf, a picturesque dry valley. Pass by the impressive Wadi Canyons and several small villages on a scenic 1.5-hour drive before continuing up the road leading into the Jebel Shams Mountai...

We had a fantastic day. Our guide Ahmed was very knowledgeable and informative, and as well as giving us a lot of information, also gave us a lot of insights into the everyday lives of Omanis. A delightful man! First stop was the Bedouin camp, and although no one was there due to the time of the year we were still able to go into the main room and look around. Dune bashing was fun, and the scenery stunning. Swimming at Wadi Bani Khaled was idyllic. It was very quiet due again to the time of the year. The day did seem a little pricey for what you get, but an excellent experience nevertheless.
It’s a five stars for me! Talib (our guide) was very well spoken, brought us so much culture and opened our eyes to the life in Muscat. The activities were quite rich with the amazing ride in the dunes and the swimming in the wadi bani khalid waters. A full day you’ll be exhausted by the end of the day
Very good guide, very kind .. Hammed is an Omani boy of great culture and respect .... it is worth doing this tour only for his presence and availability ... he tells you all about Oman things and traditions Bravissimo! And we have made many trips around the world and excursions as many
Perfect and entertaining tour. Ahmed promptly picked us up from the airport and drove us to the Wahiba Sands Dunes in a large, new, comfortable car. He told us many interesting things about Oman and then we went to the Wadi Bani Khalid oasis. 100% recommended and reliable tour. Worth.
First experience with a private tour, I must say experience above expectations. Extremely expert guide. Excellent understandable English. He made us enter the Omani customs also making us taste some local foods. To recommend
