Full description
Take a 2-hour walking tour of Munich to discover one of the darkest moments in the city’s history, learning of the birth of Nazism, the rise of Hitler, and the infamous Third Reich. In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated and humiliated nation, with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement, and one of history’s most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler. Follow the inception of Nazism, from the first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus to the failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrenhalle. You will go to the site of party rallies at Königsplatz, and stop in the Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose Resistance Movement. The tour covers all the important facts and sites that played a role in the origin of this dark chapter, which ended with the beautiful city of Munich in ruins and the second world war cutting deep wounds across Deutschland.

My husband and I had the pleasure of taking a tour with Danielle yesterday. She was very knowledgeable and we both learned a lot as well as saw some amazing sights. It was an unusually small group. A few people didn’t show so there were just three people taking the tour. We were able to ask lots of questions. I would highly recommend this tour for those wanting to learn some history. Probably not a great tour for younger children.

I was a member of Florian's tour group on Thursday of last week. It was an excellent morning. Florian was lively, amusing, interesting, and, crucially, well-informed - and he was also interested to hear input and questions from us all. I would thoroughly recommend this tour. We loved this tour, its a must here, especially when nearby Vienna is less willing to be open about this history. We learned so much--we didn't realize Munich was so crucial to this awful movement's founding. We are grateful to our guide. Great value he stuck with us for 3 hours when it said 2.5.
