  • Take a fully-guided tour of the Nazi rally grounds
  • Learn about the unofficial capital of the first Germanic Empire
Full description
In Nuremberg the Third Reich strutted in all of its pomp in the city’s grandiose marching grounds, and years later an international war crimes tribunal held that same Nazi leadership accountable for its actions. There is much more to see here, however. This is an old and beautiful city with a rich and vibrant history. You’ll see the massive medieval fortifications of the striking old town, magnificent gothic churches, colorful marketplaces, and the hilltop castle of the old imperial city. Your expert guide will accompany you on the 90-minute train journey from and to Munich, and provide a comprehensive tour through Nuremburg. The city’s history is fascinating. It was the unofficial capital of the First Reich, or the first Germanic Empire, which dominated central Europe for a thousand years. It was here that the Imperial Diet of the Holy Roman Empire was hosted. It was a center of cultural and intellectual vitality at the crossroads of major imperial trade routes. Nuremburg also played a key role in the Reformation, and in the printing and scientific revolutions that shaped the modern world.

Had a very knowledgeable guide in Elisabeth. Good overall pace of the tour and kept the group fully informed on what was happening and when. Lots of history and was well prepared. If doing in December there is Christmas Markets but you only have limited time for these. You do spend 4 hours on trains so be prepared.

The trip to Nuremberg would have been enjoyable had it not been a scorching day with 36C temp. This was not the ideal weather for a walking tour. The tour is split into 2 halves: a walk through the old town of Nuremberg followed by a trip to the Nazi rally grounds. It is a very very long walking tour. The afternoon tour to the Nazi rally grounds was very informative. Matt the tour guide provided a lot of factual information

This tour had just the right balance between the city of Nurnberg and it’s history and then in the afternoon learning about things associated with Hitler and the third Reich. Our guide Achim was absolutely amazing with a PhD in history! We would highly recommend this tour and thoroughly enjoyed it but with a disclaimer that it is quite a bit of walking. We rode the train, a city bus and a shuttle and it was all very well planned.
