Frequently asked questions about Munich

Planning Your Visit

  • How many days to spend in Munich?

If you're just going to tick the city off the list, then 3 days will satisfy any tourist's sightseeing needs. But for a more relaxed trip and to really get to know the city, a week's stay will be much more suitable.

  • Where to stay?

With public transport being so efficient, location depends on what you want your experience to be. If you want to be close to the main sights, then look for something in Altstadt. For a more modest budget, look in Ludwigsvorstadt near the Hauptbahnhof and the Oktoberfest grounds. Or if you're in the city for the nightlife, then Schwabing, Maxvorstadt, and the Gärtnerplatzviertel-Glockenbachviertel areas will be your best bet.

We loved the bike tour through Munich! Our tour guide (sorry we can't remember her name - young lady with brown hair who studied anthropology) was great! She gave detailed information about the city - we learned about the origin of Munich, explored important landmarks, and even stopped at a Beer Garden to re-energize. With this bike tour, you get to explore more areas than you would be able to on foot. Would definitely recommend!

Best tour of our trip! Our guide was a wonderful story teller and provided commentary throughout the entire journey. Upgrading to the Premium Tour was a great choice - especially during Covid. The seats had plenty of leg room and there was plenty of extra room on the bus. We also enjoyed the included snacks, drinks and coffee. Highly recommend!

Our guide, Achim, did a great job making the history of the 3rd Reich in Munich come to life. I remembered bits and pieces from history class, but seeing the historic landmarks where everything took place, together with Achim's commentary, was amazing. Great value for the money, thorough, and absolutely recommended.

I enjoyed the trip immensely. When they say a 20 minute hike it delivers, it was a 20 minute up hill hike! Lucia was a fantastic guide so knowledgeable about Ludwig and the castle. Her excitement was contagious. The views from the castle and the castle itself were fabulous! Would definitely do again!

Excellent day! Clean bus, great guide, beautiful scenery. Really enjoyed the day.
