Full description

Enjoy a physical challenge with rewarding views on this guided climb to the top of Etna. Ride the cable car then trek to the summit. Take breaks along the way and capture unique photos of the summit craters.

Meet your guide in Piazzale Rifugio Sapienza. After getting your equipment and enjoying an initial briefing, begin your hike to the top of Mount Etna, which sits at 3,300 meters above sea level.

Take the cable car to quickly reach an altitude of 2,500 meters, then a special 4x4 bus to 2,900 meters, near Torre del Filosofo. Neither the cable car nor the bus is included in the tour price.

From there, start the 2-hour ascent, taking intermediate breaks to enjoy the views during the trek. Walk through the lunar-looking lava fields that will lead you right to the summit of Etna: the highest active volcano in Europe. Admire the peculiar features that characterize the summit area.

Begin the descent through fun sands. Visit Mount Etna's Barbagallo flank craters and a lava flow channel. Finally, take the cable car downhill again to return to the starting point.

Very nice hike, with an excellent guide, very attentive to the group and answering all questions. The guide company lends the equipment and more if needed (backpack, jackets) Unfortunately, we could not climb to the top because of the volcanic activity. The weather being very overcast, with passage of rain, did not help but congratulations to the guide for his adaptation I recommend this company

Well organised. Not sure what happened about buses as activity was supposed to be too high for buses to run. But buses were still running. Its a reasonably difficult climb because of the altitude (I was also unwell- actually tested positive that night which explains at lot!). But I enjoyed what I managed and my son enjoyed it. Thank you Max, Vincenzo and Mary.

I was skeptical at first since I didn't know the website and I could find all kinds of variations for trips to Etna for very different prices with unclear descriptions, however, I went with this one for the summit since it was clear from the title that we will aim for as high as possible and loved it! Massimo, the guide was very clear in explanations and had a good sense of humor. he kept us motivated and engaged throughout the climb such that the 6 hours have passed very easily. Hiking on a volcano is a unique experience you should totally try!
