See the Hochstetter Icefall and the cloud-piercing Aoraki/Mount Cook before landing on the upper snowfields of the Tasman Glacier. Take time to enjoy this unique alpine environment before swapping aircraft and returning to Mount Cook Airport. These mountains are covered in snow and ice all year round, and the aircraft fully shuts down on landing. You'll also see Tasman Terminal Lake, Grand Plateau, Plateau Hut, as well as the full length of the Tasman Glacier.

We originally were booked for the combo but the weather on the day we had booked was not expected to be very good. We ended up doing the ski plane flight over the west coast and then a glacier landing. Amazing experience, everything is very different from above. Peter our pilot had to stay back for our flight, he made the experience even better with his personality and humour. Would definitely recommend.

Great flight

Unfortunately the weather was against us for our booked flight and the skiplane and wasn't flying either the day we had booked - there were no flights that day - or the following day so we were offered a helicopter flight instead. This was a cheaper deal but we were told the difference would be refunded. The flight was excellent. I was surprised how slowly we rose to the mountain top and how close we flew to the rocks but it all felt perfectly safe and controlled. The view when we landed on the mountain was fantastic. The staff were all extremely helpful and the pilot was excellent. It was a great experience.
