Start the tour a Provatas Beach, one of the most scenic areas on the island. Head along the coast to the southern part of Milos known as Kalamos. Experience the intense smell of sulfur and enjoy amazing views of Agia Kiriaki beach. Later, pass by the village of Zefyria, the old capital of the island where the Holy Temple of Panagia Portiani stands out from the cliffs. Head east to the area of Paliorema or Theiorichia to see the ruins of the Sulfur Mining Plant. This plant could be described as an outdoor museum as even today you can still see rusty wagons, mining tunnels, deserted offices, tools, and personal items used by the workers that will transport you back to 1960 when the plant ended its operations. Stop here to take in the majestic scenery or take a dip in the clear waters. See how the yellowish pebbles colored by the sulfur add to the unique landscape. End the tour at Aggeria Mine on the Northeast side of Milos Island, where you will be amazed by the incredible colors of the soil.
