Full description

Discover Milan's rich musical history on a tour through one of the world's leading opera theaters. La Scala also houses its own museum, which hosts a vast collection of costumes, instruments, and other musical curios, as well as a gallery of busts and paintings portraying some of classical music's greatest artists, including Giussepe Verdi and Arturo Toscanini. An expert guide will lead you through the museum with fascinating tales and anecdotes about some of the marvelous musicians who have performed on La Scala's famous stage. You'll be immersed in the magic of the theater itself, with views from the boxes of the neoclassical interior and its monumental crystal chandelier. With good timing and a little bit of luck, you may even witness the artists rehearsing.

The guide was very good, but the tour is short and you only spend a few short minutes looking at the theater. No access to the backstage or floor of the theater, just a view from the box. The museum is 4-5 rooms. Go if you love the opera, but otherwise not worth it.

A great introduction

There is a lot to be said for a guide who is passionate and informative. Ours was both. We had a mostly enjoyable hour in La Scala, spoiled only by other members of our party, who thought it acceptable to elbow others out of the way in their endless quest for the perfect selfie...

Excellent tour and guide

Very interesting tour of the theatre but could you make the tour guides more visible? Luckily I saw a women with a ticket similar to mine but otherwise I wouldn’t have known who the guide was. Maybe if they wore a brightly coloured baseball cap or stood near a sign that said “GET YOUR GUIDE” it would help customers.
