Your full-day trip begins with a drive to Huejotzingo, where you’ll visit the Convent of San Miguel and learn about the various cultural origins of the Mexicans, including Spanish, Arabic, and Native American. Afterwards, you’ll explore the Cholula archaeological zone, home to the largest pyramid in the world. The tour continues to colonial Puebla, a cosmopolitan city that has preserved its traditions in its food, art, and culture. As you walk along the city’s beautiful streets, you’ll be drawn in by the splendid architecture of the city’s cathedral, the homes, museums, and other buildings decorated with tiles. Visit Puebla’s majestic cathedral, its main square, the Chapel of the Rosary, the Convent of Santa Monica. Stop at onyx and talavera ceramics factories.

Nice tour but logistical problems

Especially Puebla is very interesting and nice - but the time there is too short. Partly because of bad luck with traffic (which is not the fault of the organiser obviously) but also because the departure is 1 hour later than announced as the bus waits for all people to arrive at the pickup point. Maybe better to just go there on your own and eventually get a local uide there.

Worthwhile, high-contrast day trip

You do not have to write much about the two colorful and lively cities of Cholula and Puebla, they correspond to the descriptions from the well-known travel guides. The view of the volcanoes is certainly best in the (dry) Mexican winter. The bus ride, however, also provides a safe distance insights into the corners of the country, which are not mentioned in the guidebooks, especially on the way back in the dark on the outskirts of the cdmx! We signed up for the trip in English, but we were the only English-speaking couple for a total of about 15 people. Although the guide provided brief explanations in English, most of the trip was in Spanish. In general, we get pleasure from two places, which we saw a lot more than from our guide.
