If you like pork, then this tour is for you! The Yucatán Peninsula specializes in all things pork and you get a chance to taste lots of it plus other treats on this tour with a local. First, we stopped for an agua fresca (flavored water) from an ice cream shop. Then we got a gordita filled with pork from a local fast food joint (my favorite!). After that, we visited two markets in Mérida: Mercado Lucas de Galvez and Mercado de San Benito. We pulled up chairs at a few local stands. Our guide ensured us the stalls are selected for their high-quality food and good safety practices. We tasted salbute de relleno negro (turkey with black sauce in a salbute-style tortilla). We also learned about and ate tacos al pastor, which are made with schwarma-style pork. Our guide also pointed out produce favored in Yucatán cooking and helped translate with vendors. We ended with paletas (handmade popsicles). A fun street food tour overall!

If I could give this ten stars, I would. Our guide, Alejandro, was excellent. I appreciate the cultural immersion this experience provides and the wonderful people we met; Marcos, Jose, and Lorenzo at the Bakery, Manuel and Ana at their house to learn Mayan life, balance with nature and bee keeping/honey tasting, Gloria at her house for an authentic lunch and great conversation, and Alonzo at the Guayabera Factory (you will know how the shirts are made and buy at a much better price than in the city). All of these people were kind, gracious, and genuinely interested in sharing their lives and culture. We are grateful for this incredible experience and the opportunity to learn more about life in this region of Mexico. The visit to Mayapan Archeological Site, in our opinion, was better than visiting Chichen-Itza. The site is well kept, well preserved, and less crowded, absolutely stunning.

A wonderful way to explore the cenotes - the cenotes themselves was beautiful and all very different. Lunch was delicious and the transport was extremely comfy. Jose our guide was lovely. Would definitely recommend if you don’t have a car and want to experience the cenotes properly.

I really enjoyed this visit, it was great and the food delicious. The time we arrived allowed us to enjoy the cenotes fully since there were not too many people even though it was high season.

It was so beautiful to get to know local people from Tekit’s town and participate in their daily life. We learned so much from Tekit’s community. We recommend this tour so much!
