From 1938 to 1945, the Mauthausen concentration camp was the center of a system of more than 40 subcamps and the central site of political, social, racial and anti-Semitic persecution by the Nazi regime on Austrian territory. The central task of the memorial is to anchor the history of the Mauthausen concentration camp and its subcamps, the memory of their victims and the responsibility of the perpetrators and bystanders in the public consciousness. At the same time, public discussion of history in the light of its significance for the present and future is also to be promoted.

I consider the visit to Mauthausen-Gusen essential. That said, I only have good words about the tour and especially for our driver and guide in Spanish Joseph. Only my parents and I were in this experience, so Joseph made it 100% in Spanish and adapted to us. We had to leave a plaque for my dead great-uncle in Gusen, we couldn't leave it in Mauthausen, so the driver extended the trip to get to Gusen. Details of kindness for a trip where you come to remember the most evil of humanity. Thank you very much Joseph!

A very fantastic trip, well organized, wonderful tour guide. the Holocaust events truly unfolds at Mauthausen. The entire experience is worth every penny

Such an amazing and humbling experience. A true eye opener to see just how cruel the world can be towards others just because their views are different.

We had a lovely time with our guide, Josef. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. What an educational and important experience.

Amazing experience and well worth the ticket price!
