Explore some of the historic sites of Provence on a full-day minibus tour from Marseille, starting with the medieval city of Avignon. Drive along the docks between the Rhône River and historic city walls, looking at the Saint-Benezet Bridge made famous by the children's song, “Sur le Pont d'Avignon.” See the impressive Palais des Papes (Popes' Palace), the site of the Papacy in the 14th century before their return to Rome. Sample the wines of the Rhône River valley in the legendary village of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, boasting a castle ruin that overlooks the vineyards of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Visit the cellar of a winery for a complimentary wine-tasting session. Next, drive to the Pont du Gard to see the remains of the Roman aqueduct that supplied water to the city of Nîmes. Continue to the Alpilles Mountains to visit the lofty village of Les Baux de Provence, located on a rocky spur overlooking the valley.

Overall very nice tour with lots to see. The only comment is a choice of timing: we arrived very early to Les Baux village - all shops and restaurants were still closed and starting to open; and then we arrived to Avignon around 13:00, so some of restaurants were going to close for a day-rest break in an hour or so and only touristy bistros were opened (not what I enjoy).. For wine tastes can differ, so I will not say enything here. But otherwise it was a very interesting journey if you like historical places and a feel of Provance. I am glad I went and would recommend.

Great experience! Spectacular views of landscape scenery, little old villages and beauty of simple countryside life. Our guide Florence had provided us extensive information about culture, historical background, architecture, local agriculture and lifestyle of people in Provence. We had enough time to visit sightseeings in every place and also try some local food. We really enjoyed the wine degustation and learnt how to distinguish different types of wine and enjoy it! Highly recommended!

It is a very interesting route with a bit of everything. Has quite a bit of 'free time' without the guide which is appreciated. But anyone booking this should be aware that there is quite a long time in the car, long distances are covered. Would appreciate more time in Avignon I think, time was just enough for a sit down lunch. Guide was great, very friendly but not the typical 'tourist guide' that talks non-stop and gives an abundance of information
