Discover Morrocco's desert on a 3-day trip from Marrakech. See the historic Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, go on a camel trek through the dunes, and see the sunrise from the desert.

Day 1: Marrakech - Tizi n'Tichka - Ait Ben haddou - Ouarzazate - Rose Valley - Tinghir Your 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Merzouga dunes begins early in the morning with a pickup from your Marrakech hotel or the nearest meeting point. Drive east past quaint villages to reach the High Atlas Mountains.

As you drive through the mountains, occasionally stop for scenic photos, stretch your legs, and have a quick cup of coffee. After driving through the famous Tizi Ntichka pass, stop at the Berber fortified village, Ait Benhaddou Kasbah.

See the filming locations of the Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and the Kingdom of Heaven as you spend about 2.5 hours exploring this famous UNESCO sight with a local guide (guide fees not included).

Enjoy a delicious lunch before continuing to Tinghir, driving past Ouarzazate, Skoura Oasis, Klaa Mgouna, and Dades. Reach your hotel late in the afternoon. Relax with dinner in Tinghir before retiring for the night. Day 2: Tenghir - Todra Gorges - Tinjdad - Erfoud - Merzouga Dunes After breakfast, depart for the Erg Chebbi Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Pass through the many Berber villages scattered along the way, including Todra Gorges, Tenghir, Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud.

After relaxing in Merzouga, pack a small overnight bag to take on your camel trek across the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Arrive at a traditional Berber camp, leave the camels and walk to the highest dunes to watch the sunset.

Spend the night in Berber nomad tents under the stars, listening to drum music in the middle of the Sahara.  Day 3: Camel trek - Sunrise -Tinghir - Rose Valley - Atlas Mountains - Marrakech Get up bright and early to see the stunning sunrise over the desert. Enjoy breakfast before hopping back on your camel. Once your reach Merzouga, begin your drive back to Marrakech.

The 3-day trip is densely packed with activities and sightseeings, which you need to digest for a couple of days after the trip. We have meet some great people, with which we have shared the van, and most remarkable was definitely the driver/guide for the trip. He is an amazing person, life savior in some occasions and full of information! Without him (and also other people that we share the experience with), the trip wouldn’t be as awesome as it was! I really hope our paths will cross again sometime!

We got Abrid as our driver and guide! He was amazing, very safe driver and great guide. The trip was very packed with activities. The highlight was definitely the camel ride and luxury desert camp. Definitely recommend the luxury camp with its own shower, toilet and the food was great. People in the camp were so nice as well! The stars in the desert was so clear~ once in a lifetime experience for us! Highly recommend this tour but do prepare yourself for the early mornings and long drives! Thankyou very much to Desert Family Tours!

The pictures really do not do this tour justice. I get that a lot of tours sell based on photos of twenty-somethings putting their happy faces in front of magnificent and fascinating places, and that's true for GYG's promotion of their Marrakech 3-Days Desert Trip to Merzouga Dunes. The experience of camel riding in Erg Chebbi was incredible, but what I wasn't expecting was how remarkable the places would be on the way. Google photos of Tinghir, Todra Gorge and Dades Valley, they're like nothing you've ever seen before! But what makes them even more remarkable is the openness of the guides. We had the perpetually enthused Hassan driving us out, and handing us off to Kamir in Tinghir who was extremely informative, especially about the role of Islam in what we were seeing. Everyone was very accommodating, we felt safe the whole time and I would, unreservedly, recommend this trip.
