Full description

Depart Marrakech in the morning and drive for 1 hour to the Moulay Brahim Gorges. Arrive at the main trailhead with streams and paths branching out in all directions, and experience the dramatic scenery on a camel ride. Reboard the vehicle then continue into the Imlil Valley, passing many Berber villages along the way.  Leave the vehicle at Imlil to head into the village, where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. After, set off on a trek for 2 to 3 hours to Armed, the highest and biggest village in the Imlil Valley. Hike to the Berber village of Ait Souka, passing the hamlets of Ait Mizan, Targa, and Imoula en route. Stop on the way at Tamatert, and take in the glorious views of ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn, and vegetables surrounded by cherry and walnut trees. Continue for another 30 minutes to arrive at the home of a Berber family in Ait Souka, where you can enjoy another mint tea and lunch in the home of a Berber family. Return down the other side of the valley via Taourirt, and continue to Marrakech for your drop-off at the end of the tour services.

We had a great day, we were picked up by Abdul our driver who spoke great English and provided lots of info on the trip and asked us what we would like to do on the trip so we could tailer it to our needs. Ibrahim our guide was brilliant, it was just our group of three on our hike so felt very personalised. Ibrahim was very relaxed and forthcoming with information, but also let us enjoy the beautiful scenery. One of our group did not want to ride the camel, but this wasn’t an issue and Abdul arranged some tea and we annoyed the view, everything was tailored to our needs. I would highly recommend this trip as the mountains are beautiful and I think seeing them on foot is more rewarding than a jeep alone.

This trip was an amazing way to experience the beauty just outside of Marrakech. Our day started with our driver, Hassan, picking us up in Marrakech and taking us to the mountains. He was very engaging and told us the history and pointed out some amazing points of interest along the way. Once we got to the mountain town of Imlil, his friend Ibrahim took us on a hike through the villages in the valley. He even treated us to tea in his family home, with a view that dreams are made of. At the end of our hike, we were provided lunch at another beautiful location overlooking the villages in the valley and the mounts surrounding them. After Ibrahim dropped us off with Hassan, Hassan took us to Agafay Desert to take in the views and ride camels. All in all, this is a can’t miss experience. Special thanks again to Hassan and Ibrahim for making our journey a memorable experience.

Brilliant experience. Our driver Abdul spoke good English and was very helpful. Our guide Ibrahim was brilliant too. Very humble man. Wife couldn't do the climbing so he arranged for a horse/mule (110MAD paid to the mule owner for the whole day). Very tasty tagine lunch. Good English speaking guide was extremely useful. Highly recommended.
