Full description
With numerous bars and clubs, Marmaris experiences can be anything but traditional. Yet, even in a place like Marmaris, traditional Turkey is not as far away as you may think. An hours drive from the city, you'll have the chance to travel back a century in time. Allow yourself to discover the simplicity of rural life and meet the local people who will enchant you with their genuine nature and hospitality. Your day starts with a visit to an old mosque in Bayir Village. Here, you'll be welcomed by the priest from the mosque and informed about ritual customs. While in Bayir village, you can sample the local honey in the shade of the 2000-year-old plane tree. If your visit falls within term time, you can also pay a visit to the local school and talk to some of the local children. Your next stop is the village of Turgut with a lovely canyon with a centuries-old watermill. After having lunch, you will be hosted by a local family offering apple and oregano teas in their traditional house. A visit to the tranquil beach of Orhaniye tops off this exceptional day.

Get a clear difference between the city and the countryside

Had nice group on the bus, tour guide also did best to explain everything clearly. Get to see how people live here, and taste different things honey tea ect. friendly people, but sometimes you try to sell something but are not intrusive. Waterfall is the absolute high point of the tour. Minus point along the carpet making and food was not very much to do but fine. For the money is great tour.

Laughable - and not in a good way

The minibus that turned up was not big enough for the group of 15 to sit forward facing. I had to be separated from my friend and travel with the guide and driver. There was no microphone so the loca guide shouted from beside me. When we arrived at the honey place, no direction was given. The guide went off to eat his breakfast and left us sitting in the cold waiting for someone to start our “tour”. No timings were given so most of the group became cold and bored and wandered off. Jesus beach is a complete waste of time, and a little embarrassing, to be honest. Why is here a stop here? Lunch was basic. The way to the waterfalls was not explained at all. It was quite dangerous too - especially as there had been a lot of rain. More precautions should have been taken. On a more positive note, the village house visit was nice and so was the mosque visit. Well explained too. I would not recommend you do this by minibus. The Jeep tour takes exactly the same route and is much more fun
